Man involved in shooting death of father is sentenced

NASHUA (KWWL) -

An Iowa man involved in the shooting death of his father is sentenced to prison.  25-year-old Dale White, of Nashua, pleading guilty to charges of possession of a firearm.  He was banned to do so after using illegal drugs.

Police responded to his home January 2 for a report of a shooting.  White and his father were in the living room with a rifle, when it accidentally went off, hitting the father.  He later died from his injuries.

During the investigation, police seized 49 firearms from the home, including handguns, shotguns, and rifles.  Authorities say White was also using meth and marijuana.

White received a just under three years in prison.  He's being held in the custody of the U.S. Marshal's until he is transported to federal prison.
