Iowa Boy Scouts spreading yard flamingos around town

Spreading some cheer, while raising money

A group of Boy Scouts found a unique way to raise money. It's called flocking. So what is that?

They're putting a bunch of yard flamingos in lawns. Three Boy Scouts are going around Waterloo and Cedar falls doing this.

But it's not random. People pay them to go and "flock" someone's yard. People also pay them to "de-flock," or remove the yard flamingos.

This is all to raise money so the three scouts can go to next year's Boy Scout National Jamboree. It's a 10-day event that brings together boys from all over the world. The Cedar Valley scouts need around $2,600.

They've already flocked around 140 houses in Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

They will continue to flock on the weekends now that school has started. The boys also turned the yard flamingos they're using into little flamingo scouts.
