Stanford rapist Brock Turner will walk free after three months behind bars

The former Stanford University student convicted of sexual assault in June will walk free on Friday after just three months behind bars.

21-year-old Brock Turner went to prison on June 2 after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman.  Turner raped the unconscious woman behind a dumpster outside of a fraternity house on campus in 2015.

A jury found Turner guilty of three felonies: assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated person, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object, and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object.

Judge Aaron Persky drew outrage by handing him a six-month prison sentence, decried as lenient - and court records show that Turner will only serve half of it.

He will be released from the Santa Clara County jail on September 2, according to the facility's website.  Sources tell NBC News there is a planned protest outside of the jail on Friday.
