"People are tired" Truckloads of debris coming in after flooding

WINNESHIEK COUNTY (KWWL) -

The cleanup in northeast Iowa is far from over.

Several truckloads filled with debris from last week's flooding came into the Winneshiek County Recycling Center over the weekend.

"People are tired and moving much slower. The piles of debris are changing. Flood soaked bedding, clothing, etc., came in during the first few days. Now, it's appliances, drywall, insulation, and the unusual items that are just difficult to part with," said Terry Buenzow, the Winneshiek County Recycling Department manager.

The Decorah Police Department says many people are dealing with wet basements. A section of the bike path on Dug Road also slid away from the hill and dropped about six feet. It's a section of the bigger Trout Run Trail system.

Police say that part of the trail will be closed until repairs can be made.
