DENVER (KWWL) -

Kain Eagle knocked home a 29 yard field goal with six seconds remaining to lift Denver to a season opening win over Dike-New Hartford.

The Cyclones appeared to have a chance to run away early, pounding the ball behind their oversized offensive line. A pair of early touchdowns by Fletcher Anderson gave Denver a 14-0 edge early in the second quarter.

Dike-New Hartford pulled within seven on a short touchdown run from Trent Johnson, but a promising drive prior to the half resulted in a missed field goal leaving the Wolverines trailing 14-7 at the break.

Denver capitalized on a three and out by D-NH on the opening drive of the second half as they'd move the ball deep in to Wolverine territory. That would result in Anderson's third touchdown of the game, a short run inside the one yardline for a 22-7 lead.

D-NH, however, went to work in the fourth quarter picking up two more Johnson scoring runs, the second one followed by a Nick Durnin 2-point conversion run to tie the game at 22 apiece with under three minutes to go.

The Cyclones responded with a long methodical drive that would eventually lead to Eagle's game winning kick giving Denver a thrilling opening night win.
