Church hosts Racists Anonymous meetings

Posted: Updated:
Concord, North Carolina (KWWL) -

A church is holding weekly support meetings for an unusual group.

The group is called, "Racists Anonymous."

About a dozen people from all backgrounds have been going to the meetings since they started last month in North Carolina.

The church's pastor says he's sick of the recent shootings and racial divide. He wanted to do more than pray.

"It may not be the first thing you want to talk about the table at the Thanksgiving dinner with your family, but those conversations are going to be more common going forward," says Rev. Nathan King from Trinity United Church of Christ.

The program is led by a therapist and follows the traditional 12-step model.
