Posted: Updated:

Chickasaw County authorities say they found a man's body near Union Avenue between Lawler and Protivin.

According to authorities, they were called near the 1100 block of Union Avenue at 4:38 a.m. Wednesday for a man trapped on his pick-up truck roof.

Authorities say he was driving to work Wednesday, when he came across a water-covered portion of Union Avenue, and he was swept to the ditch.

The driver was able to escape to the roof of his pick-up truck and call for help, but by the time help arrived, he was already gone.

Several agencies spent the morning searching by land, water, and even air.

By Wednesday afternoon, the Chickasaw County Sheriff confirmed the man's body was found in the area.
