Freeport being evacuated in Winneshiek County

WINNESHIEK COUNTY (KWWL) -

The small community of Freeport is being evacuated this morning because of flooding in Winneshiek County.

Freeport is east of Decorah which is also dealing with flooding.

The sheriff's office says anyone who needs shelter should go to Stone Ridge Community Church in Decorah. An emergency shelter is now in place. The Salvation Army will be there with food and cleaning kits.

Many roads have been washed out in the county.
