UPDATE: Number of roads still underwater in Allamakee County

ALLAMAKEE COUNTY (KWWL) -

UPDATE: The Allamakee County Sheriff's tells KWWL a lot of roads are still underwater this morning.

They're working to close off roads that aren't passable. The Sheriff's Office says they've dealt with some mudslides in the area. 

They say they're working as hard as they can, but it is difficult because there's so much water.

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office is asking drivers to be careful.

Heavy rain overnight is causing problems.

The county has seen mudslides, downed trees, and washed out roads.

The Allamakee County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Department of Transportation are out working on roads and -- in some cases -- closing them.According to the DOT, Highway 26 is blocked between County Road A26 and Highway 9. 

Remember, when you come across a flooded roadway, turn around. Don't drown.
