UPDATE: State Fair stabbing victim identified; in stable condition

UPDATE:  Authorities confirm the man stabbed is Darquan Jones, of Des Moines.  At last check, he remains in the hospital but is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The State Patrol says an 18-year-old stabbed in the carnival area of the State Fair is expected to recover. 

Investigators do not think this is a random act of violence.

PREVIOUS:
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a stabbing in the carnival area of the Iowa State Fair.

According to Troopers, an 18-year-old man was stabbed shortly before 10:30 p.m. He was taken to a Des Moines hospital and his condition is not known.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Des Moines Police Department are assisting with the investigation.

Agents are currently interviewing witnesses. More information is expected to be released Monday morning.

Sunday was the final day of the Iowa State Fair.
