It's almost time to head back to school. In Waterloo, children were able to get free school supplies, thanks to the community.

Children and their parents were lining up to get free school supplies, clothing and a quick snack. Organizers say, it's important for children to be prepared for the first day of school.

Kids in Waterloo are getting ready to go back to school. With the help of Take Back Our Community, kids and families don't have to worry about those school supplies.

"We're not trying to do too much, what we want is something very basic, come together as a community to support one and another," said Corye Johnson, Take Back Our Community.

Supporting education and Waterloo's children by providing book bags full of supplies.

Pencils and many other essential back to school supplies packed inside the book bags. The event organizer says Take Back Our Community wants to make sure children are prepared to start school.

"Right now between paying rent, paying bills and now you have school supplies that you have to contend with too, we want to be a blessing to both of those individuals who say I have one, but I don't have the other, how can we help make ends meet? That's what it's about," said Johnson.

Hopeful the people of Waterloo will continue to work together.

"I want us to, I can't say go back to a better time because every time is the time that we have, I want us to remember that it does truly take a village to raise a child," said Johnson.

Organizers say the kids should be set for school to start at the end of the month.Parents and kids, both happy for the help with supplies.
