IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Firefighters have rescued a man from the Iowa River in Iowa City.

Officers and firefighters were sent to the Burlington Street Dam around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday. They found the man clinging to a log stuck in the dam wall. Deputy Fire Chief Roger Jensen says the man must have gone over the dam.

A rescuer who was lowered to the man attached a harness to him, and he was pulled to safety. The man was treated later for minor injuries. His name hasn't been released.
