UPDATE: The Boys and Girls Club of the Cedar Valley received enough donations from the community to surprise Exavier Thompson with a new bike.

Police are using surveillance video to catch a thief, who was caught on tape stealing a boy's bike from the Boys and Girls Club.

13-year-old Exavier Thompson has spent most of his summer at the Cedar Valley Boys and Girls Club. Thompson rides his bike to and from the club.

But Monday afternoon took a different turn, when he was told his bike was stolen.

"What grown man just steals a kid's bike out of nowhere?" said Thompson. "Out of nowhere though."

Surveillance camera shows an older man is the thief.

In the video, you see a shirtless man with a tattoo on his upper right arm walking into the parking lot with a bike with no seat and a flat tire.

A little bit later he leaves taking Exavier's bike with him, in turn leaving Exavier the broken bike.

"It doesn't make sense," said Thompson. "Make any sense to me."

Thompson says he left his bike unlocked, but that's nothing new. While some kids choose to lock their bikes, a lot still don't.

Thomspon says he can't imagine why someone would steal a bike from the Boys and Girls Club.

"I don't know, just negative thoughts into the mind, and having the wrong mindset to do so," said Thompson.

Waterloo police say they're still looking for the man and woman in the surveillance video. If they look familiar or if have any information, please contact police.

Thompson says he hopes to get a new bike soon if police can't find his stolen one.
