UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies in Interstate 380 crash

UPDATE: A 60-year-old man has died after hitting the back of an Iowa Department of Transportation maintenance vehicle while riding a motorcycle earlier today in Linn County.

Terry Dwaine Spencer, of Milton, West Virginia, was traveling southbound on Interstate 380 shortly after 11:15 a.m. when he hit the parked maintenance vehicle, which was being used to divert traffic.

Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the accident.

UPDATE: The Linn County Sheriff's Office confirms the crash is a fatal accident. Authorities also say the accident involves a motorcycle and happened in the southbound lanes of I-380 near mile marker 38. A construction zone is located near the area where the crash occurred.

The names of those involved in the accident have not been released.

Emergency crews are on the scene of an accident along Interstate 380 near Center Point.

The collision occurred between County Road W36 (Exit 35) and 54th Street Trail (Exit 41) around 11 a.m. this morning.

The right lane is currently blocked around the scene of the accident.
