Investigation wraps up involving Linn-Mar athletic department

MARION (KWWL) -

The Iowa Board of Educational Examiners wrapped up an investigation involving employees in the Linn-Mar athletic department.

Linn-Mar hasn't formally said which employees were involved however in February KWWL reported on parent accusations of abuse against a Linn-Mar football coach.

While we don't know specifically who was investigated in this case, in February parents told us they filed complaints against three people including the head football coach Bob Forsyth, the athletic director at the time Scott Mahmens and Matt Casebolt, an assistant football coach.

Mahmens retired after last school year.

Parents said they filed a formal complaint with the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, who says an investigation has wrapped up but they will not specify.

We spoke with the new Athletic Director David Brown at Linn-Mar this afternoon.

"Being new and to this position we are gonna go through every program and we are gonna talk about ways we can improve every program I think if you're a good coach you do that," says Brown.

The school would not say whether Casebolt is still employed as a football coach, but their website lists him as one.

We spoke with Casebolt over the phone today but he did not wish to make a comment at this time.

The school did confirm head coach Bob Forsyth is returning this coming season.

We reached out to the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners to try and confirm the investigation was the one involving coach Casebolt, they said they could not confirm or deny.
