The DEA affirms stance on medical marijuana

(CNN) -

The Drug Enforcement Administration will announce that it will not approve the use of marijuana for medical purposes.

The DEA says that there is not enough evidence the prove its therapeutic value.

While twenty-five states and the District of Columbia have passed laws that do allow some sort of medical use for marijuana, the DEA will increase the number of places allowed to grow marijuana for research purposes.

The University of Mississippi is currently the only federally licensed program that grows marijuana legally for scientific studies.
