Gladbrook-Reinbeck Looks To Repeat As State Champs

Posted: Updated:

The title defense started about a week ago on a practice field in Reinbeck and the players are all in on all the drills no matter how silly they may seem.

"I love defense all the way." Said Rebel senior Thomas Mussig. " It's the build up they start out with the stupidest little drills you don't think are going to  be important at all, little reads, and then it builds up to that big hit in the game."

Some new players are going to have to step up for G-R, as the Rebels graduated their leading passer, rusher and receiver from last season.

"It's exciting I guess something new." Said Walker Thede, "we're going to have some new guys step up and I have no doubt that they will."

In order to repeat at the UNI-Dome come this fall the Rebels know what it is going to take.

"We just have to focus on our responsibilities as individuals and work to accomplish our goal and have everybody go out and give 110 percent." Added Rebel senior Matt Roeding.

"It's going take the leadership, it's going to take some luck and it's going to take some coaching to make sure we've got everybody in the right place and it's going to take some patience."  Said head coach John Olson, "To make sure we are better in week 5 then we were in week 1 and better in week 10 then we are in week 5."
