Man arrested for alleged string of car burglaries

Posted: Updated:

An eastern Iowa man is arrested for allegedly breaking into cars.

23-year-old Maxwell Faulkner is facing 20 counts of 3rd degree burglary charges in Denver, Iowa. Police are now looking into whether he's behind a string of car break-ins in other areas as well, including more than 40 in Cedar Falls.

Faulkner's arrest comes just one day after his home was searched in the 600 block of W. 4th St. in Cedar Falls.

Captain Mike Hayes says, "During the search, several items were located that certainly did not belong to him and probably came from vehicle burglaries. All of the items have been seized by the Cedar Falls Police Department and we are sorting through it now."

Hayes says multiple agencies were there for the search.

He says, "The different officers knew what items were missing from their area, so we had people from Black Hawk, Grundy and Bremer counties up here."

Cedar Falls Police say if your car was broken into, give them a call to see if your things were possibly seized in that search.

Faulkner has not been charged with the burglaries out of Cedar Falls at this time, only out of Denver.

He is being held at the Bremer County Jail.
