Thousands gather for Olympic Samba Carnival

Over a thousands of people flocked together to the center of Rio de Janeiro to participate in Samba Carnival Tuesday night in a celebration of hosting the Olympic games. 

Rio de Janeiro is famous for its annual carnival every February. 

But the city is hosting two carnivals this year with the arrival of the summer Olympics. 

A group of Samba schools met in the port district of Praca which has been revived for the games. 

There is a royal family for each carnival, including the King Momo, Queen, and two princesses. 

The city's mayor hands a symbolic key to King Momo at the start of each carnival.
