UPDATE: Police: 1 of 3 shot at Des Moines bar dies

UPDATE: Police say one of three people shot at a Des Moines bar overnight has died of his injuries.

Police said in a news release Saturday that 40-year-old William Dawson Sr. died at a hospital after he, his son and another person were shot around 1 a.m. outside Johnny Mac's Bar and Grill.

Police say Dawson's son, 20-year-old William Dawson Jr., and 20-year-old Carly Toomey remain in the hospital, but are expected to survive.

Homicide detectives are investigating. They have not released details of the shooting.


DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Des Moines police say three people were injured in an early morning shooting at a bar.

Police were called at 1:13 a.m. Saturday to Johnny Mac's bar on a report of a shooting.

Officers found three people with wounds who were taken to Des Moines hospitals.

Their names and conditions weren't released.

Police are continuing the investigation and haven't made any arrests.
