Irish Fest kicks off in Waterloo, and entertainers are just as excited as attendees.

People are saying the weather is perfect for the event this weekend.

Headliners The Red Hot Chilli Pipers said they're excited to be back for Irish Fest.

Bagpiper Kevin MacDonald said he's been looking forward to Irish Fest ever since he performed in Waterloo three years ago.

"Well, it's great, because I believe it's the 10th anniversary this weekend. This is a fun time in Waterloo, and to be asked to headline on the starting night is amazing, and it's something we really take seriously," MacDonald said.

He reminding people who have never been, there's something for everyone.

"The key to our show is that we cater from 2 to 102. So, from your smallest baby to your great grandmother or great grandfather, they can all come and have fun, because we play music that caters to all types of people," MacDonald said.

Newest and youngest member of the band, Harry Richards, said his nerves will turn to excitement as soon as he starts performing.

"There is some pressure there, but when you're at places like this, and there are big crowds, it just makes it so much easier when the crowds enjoy it, because we enjoy it a lot as well," Richards said.

It's Richards' first time in the states, and he said Waterloo is making him feel welcome.

"When the crowd really interacts with us and starts singing back, it's just makes the performance a lot better between the performers and the crowd," Richards said.

Gates opened at 4:00 p.m., and the band is set to perform at 9:30.
