Iowa's annual sales tax holiday is well underway.

There is no sales tax on most clothing or shoes under $100 through Saturday.

Whether you're preparing for back to school or want to update your closet this may be the weekend to do it.

"I think it helps people especially with you know your school age kindergarten, first graders, that you know multiple children if you can save a little," says Nancy Koontz, Owner of Polka Dots & Denim.

It's something shopper Julie Lux can attest to.

"They have a lot of good sales and with no tax and with three kids it adds up so it's nice to have no tax," Lux tells us.

Some business owners say the tax free holiday is something Iowa can be proud of.

"I think it's a great thing for the state to do for people I think it's a really nice way for people to save a little money when they're trying to get their kids back to school," says Danielle Rings, Owner at Mode franchise in Cedar Rapids.

The holiday always lands on the first weekend in August.

"We go every year," Lux says.

The holiday will no be going on Sunday.
