Attempted Child Abduction: Be on the lookout

Posted: Updated:

Cedar Falls police and authorities from surrounding counties are looking for a man who is allegedly trying to entice children to get into his vehicle.

According to Cedar Falls Police, they were called to the Clay Street Park around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for a man in his middle 30s, trying to entice three girls to get into his silver car.

When the girls said no, he left.

According to a mom, he offered them 100 dollars in fake money.

The three girls were 7 to 13 years old.

Nearly an hour later, the Grundy County Sheriff's Office received a similar complaint from the Dietrick Mobile Home Park outside Dike.

The Grundy County Sheriff said a man, fitting a similar description to the Cedar Falls incident, who was driving a silver car, tried to entice children to get in his car for money.

Grundy County Sheriff Rick Penning says there was a similar incident reported in a Dike City Park a few weeks ago.

Authorities are asking parents to be vigilant and make sure your children are in groups when outside.

If you have any information, please call police.
