University of Iowa Health Care receives top ranking

A listing of 'The Best Hospitals' in the United States ranks The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City as the best hospital in Iowa, according to the annual rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

The new report Dr. Jean Robillard, UIHC Vice-President for Medical Affairs says, “Iowans can be confident when they entrust their health care to our world class health care team.”

In addition to ranking UIHC as the best hospital in Iowa, the yearly U.S. News & World Report rankings also put UIHC at number five in the nation in the area of Ear. Nose & Throat care, and number seven in Ophthalmology.

University of Iowa Health Care also received high national rankings in Orthopedics at number sixteen, Cancer treatment at number thirty four and Urology,  also ranked number thirty four.

Neurology and Neurosurgery was ranked forty seventh in the nation and Gynecology at number forty nine.

The University of Iowa Children's Hospital was also ranked in eight specialty categories.

Kenneth Kates, Associate Vice-President of UIHC and CEO of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, said, “We are so pleased to see their efforts being recognized on the national level.”
