DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Top ranked Cedar Rapids Prairie scored the last 11 runs of the ball game to top #2 Iowa City West 12-3 for the class 4A state championship. The title marked the first in school history for the Prairie Hawks.

West appeared to get the upper hand in the early going when Nate Disterhoft broke a 1-1 tie, driving in a pair of runs to give the Trojans a 3-1 lead after three innings.

The Prairie Hawks responded in the fourth as Levi Usher's two run double brought them even with West. The next batter, Blake Viall, knocked a base hit putting Prairie on top for good as they'd add six runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to take control.

Cooper Rettinger picked up the win giving up a pair of runs while working two of the middle innings. Darren Kilpatrick finished it out keeping West scoreless over the final three innings.
