Posted: Updated:

Behind a three-run second inning, the Prairie Hawks managed a 4-3 victory over the Waukee Warriors, Friday night at Principal Park, despite a seventh inning rally by the Warriors. The teams combined for 11 hits and recorded an error apiece.

Prairie jumped on Waukee straight away with a first-inning run. The Hawks put two runners on base with a walk and an infield single by Cal Clark. An error by Waukee’s Mark Primrose allowed the run to score giving Prairie the 1-0 lead.

The Hawks extended their lead in the bottom of the second as Alex Mixon and Levi Usher knocked back-to-back singles for Prairie. Blake Viall and Tyler Nunemaker continued the Hawks’ hitting brigade with a RBI-double and a two-run single, respectively. Through two innings, Prairie held a commanding 4-0 lead.
