TRACKING: Scattered showers, thunderstorms today

Posted: Updated:

Scattered showers are tracking through the viewing area this morning.

A few rumbles of thunder will be possible today, too. Temperatures are in the mid 60s to around 70 this morning with dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s, so still muggy. We keep the scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day today, including for the RAGBRAI riders as they ride into the KWWL viewing area.

We will stay muggy through the weekend but get hot and humid again next week as dewpoints climb back into the 70s. The showers in the north don't have much movement, since there isn't anything to really focus them, but the storms to the south and west are along a boundary that will continue to track to the east. This will eventually take the energy over us away and we should dry out for most of the weekend.

Rainfall amounts will be anywhere from a track to over an inch in our area depending on how many of the showers and storms you end up seeing through the next 24 hours. The clouds, showers and northeast winds will keep temperatures in the 70s today with lows in the low to mid 60s tonight. Areas of fog will develop, especially in between showers.

A few showers may still track through tomorrow, but it will be mainly partly sunny for Saturday with highs in the mid 70s to around 80. Storms return for next week as the heat and humidity climb back up to near 90 for highs for much of the week.
