Restaurant torn down months after fire

Posted: Updated:

A restaurant is torn down months after it's destroyed by fire. It will take a few days, but people are glad that the process has finally started.

A fire destroyed the Great Wall restaurant in Cedar Falls back in April. Crews say a stove started it all and then it quickly spread to the building's roof, destroying the building.

The pile of rubble and ash has been sitting there for three months.

The Cedar Falls assistant fire marshal says the process was delayed because of the insurance companies.

We reached out to the city asking if they plan on rebuilding on that lot but have not heard back at this time.
