Bremer County Fair hoping to move to new location

Posted: Updated:

After years of growth, one eastern Iowa  fair is making plans to re-locate and update.

The Bremer County Fair is this week. Today, they have everything from an open beef show, to a horse show, to a circus.

There's also unique animals, like a camel, a zebra, and kangaroos at the fair.

The Bremer County Fair board says they've seen more and more people coming to the fair over the years. That's why they want to expand and update their fairgrounds.

In recent years, they have had some issues with parking. In the future, the Bremer County Fair hopes to move to the Champions Ridge complex by 2018.

There would be more room for parking, animals and new opportunities with this new space.

This year at the fair, they are fundraising. Money from these fundraisers will go towards the new space at Champions Ridge. Right now the fairground is on about 17 acres of land. At Champions Ridge, the fairground will be on about 43 acres of land.
