Iowa City Police investigate robbery at Culvers

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Police are investigating an armed robbery at Culvers restaurant in Iowa City. 

On Saturday, July 23, at 7:15 a.m., the Iowa City Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Culvers on Hwy 1.

No injuries were reported. 

According to the victim, he was approached by a suspect with a handgun as he was taking the trash out. The suspect demanded money from the victim and forced him at gunpoint into the restaurant, where the victim was able to lock himself in an office. The suspect ran away with an undisclosed amount of money. 

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black hoodie and black shorts. 

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office assisted with attempting to locate the suspect. 

This is still under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department.
