Hundreds lose power as storms move through Iowa

UPDATE: Power is gradually being restored following overnight storms.

At one point hundreds of people in eastern Iowa did not have power.

Alliant had to wait until the storms passed to send their crews out. That's to make sure crews could be safe.

In Dubuque County, flash flooding was also a problem overnight.


As storms move through eastern Iowa, hundreds of people are without power. Outages reported in a number of counties overnight.

We spoke with Alliant Energy and they tell us they're waiting for the storms to pass before sending their crews out to restore outages.

According to Storm Track 7 Chief Meteorologist Mark Schnackenberg, the storms are done in Dubuque County but won't be out of the Linn County area for at least another hour.

Dubuque County also dealing with flash flooding overnight due to all the rain.
