Small town welcomes big names at Jones County Fair

Posted: Updated:

The great Jones County Fair is underway in Monticello and as usual they are expecting some big names to take the stage.

Around 100,000 people are expected to visit the fairgrounds over the weekend, in the town home to around 4,000 people.

Tonight Boston will be taking the stage, followed by Carrie Underwood on Friday, Florida Georgia Line on Saturday and Christian group For King & Country on Sunday.

The fair, expecting to draw 25 times it's town's population in just five days.

"I think that's awesome like thousands of people," Josh Oliver says, a Dubuque resident.

The large fair is nothing new to a 94-year-old Monticello native who has been coming most of her life.

"We'd get a quarter to spend and that would be one bottle of pop, one hot dog and one ride," Elizabeth Siebels told us.

Every summer, people come from far and near to the fair.

"It's kind of a miracle a little, I didn't know there was that much people here," Allie Sackett told us, a Marion resident.

The Jones County Fair is in it's 164th year.
