DES MOINES - Gov. Terry Branstad has ordered flags in Iowa to remain at half-staff to honor law enforcement officers killed in a shooting in Louisiana.
Branstad announced Tuesday that all U.S. and state flags under the control of the state will fly at half-staff until sunset Friday to honor officers killed Sunday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The White House released a presidential proclamation Monday to fly U.S. flags around the country at half-staff. It was extended until Friday.
Two police officers and a sheriff's deputy were killed and three others wounded in the shooting by a lone gunman.
Flags will be at half-staff on the state Capitol building and on flag displays in the Capitol complex. Flags will also be at half-staff for all public buildings, grounds and facilities throughout the state.
