Did Republicans miss an opportunity to showcase a rising female star tonight?

Because of the program running late, Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst’s speech began after 11 p.m. (10 p.m. Central time). She had said earlier today she was supposed to speak at 10:46 p.m. (9:46 p.m. Central).

Republicans hope that Ernst, who was being talked about as a possible vice presidential contender, will help bridge the gender gap for Trump.

But she delivered her speech to a mostly empty convention floor, which overshadowed her actual remarks.
