People who live inside say they heard the storm coming.

"She woke up and went to the patio door and told me to come here and before I got to the door it was a shaking and it sound like a freight train," said Luke Pohlmann, Vinton.

Luke and his girlfriend live in one of the buildings, their roof, gone. Moments after walking to their patio door the storm takes a hold of their roof.

"By the time we got to the door the roof had already ripped off of the building and we really didn't see what happened but you know, we felt and heard it," said Pohlmann.

Heard it all, the winds, the rain and people screaming.

"People were screaming for help, it was scary when we heard people screaming," said Ashleigh Wagner.

All that is left, debris scattered, power lines down, people's homes, devastated by the storm.

Vinton police say several people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, thankfully no serious injuries have been reported.

The Red Cross and a number of other emergency teams are in Vinton assisting the residents.
