Medicaid forum will be held today in Cedar Falls

Iowa Democrats will host a forum to answer questions or concerns about the Medicaid transition today, July 13th. 

State Senator Jeff Danielson is organizing a listening post for local residents from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Cedar Falls Community Center, 528 Main St., in Cedar Falls. 

Senator Liz Mathis of Robins, chair of the Iowa Senate Human Resources Committee will also be participating in the meeting. 

There will be representatives from United Healthcare of Iowa and Amerigroup to meet with individuals and healthcare providers who have concerns. 

Iowa Medicaid is a joint state and federal program. It serves as a safety net in health care for those living with disabilities, long-term illnesses, and severe accidents. It is estimated that roughly 70 percent of Medicaid funds are used for Iowans who live are very elderly or live with disabilities. 

The Medicaid transition began in April.
