Tom Powers wins Waterloo Ward 1 Special Election

Unofficial totals: Tom Powers finished with 787 votes to win the Waterloo Ward 1 Special Election.  Margaret Klein finished with 737, 50 votes shy.

1,526 people turned out to vote out of 9,711 eligible voters, a 15.71% turnout.  The result is pending official canvass by the Board of Supervisors 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14.


A special election to fill a vital seat in the Waterloo city council is set for today.  The candidates for Ward 1 are Margaret Klein and Tom Powers.

The vacancy comes after city councilman David Jones resigned in April.  Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
