IRON RIDGE, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say three teenage boys were lost in a labyrinthine abandoned mine in southeastern Wisconsin and had to huddle together for warmth overnight.

The boys - Tate Rose and Zachary Heron, both 16, and 15-year-old Samuel Lein - had last been seen Sunday. Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt said their bikes were found off a road near an entrance to the mine.

The sheriff told reporters during a news conference that rescuers discovered the boys in the mine Monday afternoon. He said they had decided to explore the mine and got lost. They ended up spending the night huddled together in the 58-degree darkness.

The sheriff described the mine as a maze. Rescuers told reporters that parts of the mine were flooded with as much as 8 feet of water.
