WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Hannah Fanter's 10th inning base hit made the difference as Emma Robson scored the eventual winning run as 4th ranked Waverly-Shell Rock squeaked past Waterloo East 5-4 and in to the regional final.

The run put an end to a back and forth game that saw the Trojans take an early 2-0 lead on a 2 run home run off the bat of Bri Netty in the 2nd inning. The Go-Hawks responded with a 3-run 4th inning to briefly take the lead. Lexi Wroe, however, capped a 2-run 6th for East with an RBI single to put the Trojans up 4-3 late in the game.

Waverly-Shell Rock pushed the tying run across in the 7th as Kelsey Aikey drove home Kelsey Young sending the game to extra innings and setting up Fanter's 10th inning heroics.

Waverly-Shell Rock will host Boone in a regional final on Tuesday with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
