The Iowa State Patrol says five people -- including three children -- have been killed in a crash in southern Iowa.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Friday on Highway 2 near Mount Ayr. Patrol investigators say the crash was caused when an SUV carrying seven people ran a stop sign and was hit by a truck.

Those killed include the SUV's driver, 49-year-old Renae Baker, and an adult passenger, 30-year-old Sydney King, both of Redding.

The patrol says 12-year-old Briane Baker and 2-year-old Hayden King, both of Redding, and 4-year-old Elizabeth Taylor Lakey, of Grant City, also were killed.

A 9-year-old boy was critically injured, and a 1-year-old child was treated at a hospital and released.

It's not clear how those killed and injured are related.
