A Davenport police say an officer shot and killed a dog that attacked him during a disturbance call.

Officer Troy Simon was among those dealing with a disturbance involving two adults and a juvenile Friday morning when a pill bull charged from the home's front door and attacked him.

Police say Simon fired his gun to stop the attack, and the dog died at the scene.

Simon, a 19-year veteran of the force, was taken to a hospital to be treated for bites.

He received some stitches and was released.

The two men and juvenile involved in the disturbance were all arrested.
