Four hurt in annual "Running of the Bulls"

Posted: Updated:

At least four people were injured -- but no one was gored -- as thousands of thrill-seekers tested their agility and courage by racing alongside fighting bulls through the streets of Pamplona, Spain today.

The race in the northern Spanish city is the first bull run of the San Fermin festival. According to a hospital official, three people were taken to the city hospital with head injuries, while another suffered an arm injury in the morning run. There were no immediate details on their identities.

Runners dash along with six bulls down a narrow half-mile course from a holding pen to Pamplona's bull ring. Today's run lasted two minutes and 28 seconds.

The nine-day fiesta became world famous with Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises," and attracts thousands of foreign tourists.
