The search for Cloris Mehmen continues this morning at 8 a.m.

Mehmen, who has Alzheimer's, is from Plainfield and was reported missing Tuesday night.

Volunteers should meet at the Plainfield Fire Station. You must be 18 years old to volunteer.

Fear and worry only growing as crews continue to search for 76-year old woman with Alzheimer's.

It's been more than 24 hours since Cloris Mehmen was reported missing. The Plainfield woman was first reported missing a little after 5 p.m. yesterday evening.

Crews have been out since 7 a.m. this morning searching nearly everywhere. Dealing  with the heat, and now they say they're going to face another obstacle as it gets dark, making their search all the more difficult.

Trucks full of crews came in from nearly all surrounding towns.

Volunteers all looking for 76-year-old Cloris Mehmen.

Bremer County Sheriff Dan Pickett says this isn't the first time they've been called on a report of her missing. Mehmen has wandered away three other times.

"It's never been a very long period of time, she's been located," said Pickett. "And so nothing to this extent where she's been gone for this long of a period."

Ruthless storms yesterday delayed their search.

"The concern is yesterday it was so hot," said Pickett. "And depending what time she left. It could've been anytime after 7:30-8 o'clock in the morning, but we don't know that."

A friend of the family tells KWWL her husband goes to work during the day and Mehmen is usually left at home alone.

Pickett says not knowing when she left makes it all the more possible for Mehmen to be anywhere. That's why no possibility is being ruled out, even looking in the cornfields.

They are continuing to look into fields, ditches, rivers, covering nearly every inch of land and water thoroughly. Ruling out no possibilities of where Mehmen could be at this point.

A lady matching her description was reported in Waterloo Wednesday morning.

"And after Waterloo officers checked that area, they weren't able to locate anybody," said Pickett. "It doesn't mean that still she's still not down in that area, if that was her. Because she could've walked into a building or something. But I know they'll continue checking that area."

Crews in Plainfield will continue their search Thursday morning at 8 a.m. at the Plainfield Fire Department.

Mehmen was last seen wearing blue jeans and a men's short sleeved shirt.  If you have any information call the Bremer County Sheriff's Office.
