Large turn out at parade in Independence

Posted: Updated:
INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -

No surprise here that Des Moines Register says the town of Independence goes all out for the 4th of July.

This morning they had a parade starting at 9 in the morning. The parade lasted almost two hours, and a lot of people came out to see the floats. There was everything from animals, to bands, to trucks at the parade.

This year's parade was the 156th annual parade.

This isn't the only thing there is to do in Independence today. There's also the reading of the Declaration of Independence, volleyball, and horseshoe tournaments.

Tonight there will be a firework show starting at 10.

According to the town's Facebook page, this may be the biggest firework show they've ever had.
