Discussion starts to rename Kingston Stadium after Bob Brooks

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Linn County Board of Supervisors started a discussion in today's meeting, to rename Kingston Stadium after Bob Brooks.

Brooks was a legendary Iowa Broadcaster, he died on Saturday.

Kingston Stadium is a home field to multiple Cedar Rapids high schools including Washington, Kennedy and Jefferson.

Brooks was the first broadcaster to broadcast in Kingston Stadium in 1952 and continued to do so for seven decades.

"There are few things that Bob loved more than a Friday night at Kingston Stadium covering a high school football game with his top hat, his trench coat and his gigantic tape recorder," says Amy Johnson, a Linn County Supervisor.

Although the Board of Supervisors discussed the name change, the final say will be up to the Cedar Rapids School District.
