Niang will wear #32 with Indiana

Posted: Updated:

Former Iowa State star Georges Niang meets with Indianapolis media for the first time since being drafted by the Indiana Pacers last week.

Today Niang announced he will be wearing the 32 with the pacers---the same number worn by Fred Hoiberg when he played for Indiana a couple of decades ago.

Just like his college coach Niang goes late in the second round to the Indiana Pacers.

Niang told the Indiana media today that he was hoping to get drafted--but he feels very fortunate to be going to a great organization like the Indiana Pacers.

Niang says he is excited about the players the pacers already have like all-star Paul George and also some of the players Indiana brought in like Jeff Teague.

And as for those who doubt his ability to play at the next level or the n-b-a teams that passed on him....

Niang says he is ready to prove them wrong.

"I've always had a chip on my shoulder but if you don't believe in yourself who is?

I am not saying I am arrogant but I do have confidence in my abilities

I believe my most important attribute is that I do know who I am and I will not skew away from that."

Niang was taken in the second round with the 50th overall pick.
