North Liberty man in court for trying to hire hitman to kill 4 people

UPDATE: DeWitt makes his initial appearance in court Tuesday morning.

Bond is set at $600,000 cash only.

DeWitt is also under a no contact order with any of the alleged victims.

An Iowa man is accused of trying to hire an undercover state agent to murder a business associate and his family.  Police arresting 36-year-old Justin DeWitt, of North Liberty.

Police say he offered payment to the agent to complete the murders.  DeWitt faces four counts of attempted murder and solicitation to commit murder.

According to the criminal complaint, DeWitt is accused of trying to hire someone to kill two adults and two children.

If convicted of all charges, he faces up to 140 years in prison.
