Habitat for Humanity seeking Riverside applicants

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is looking for a family to help become homeowners in Riverside, Iowa.

The group recently purchased a lot in the 100 block of 4th street in Riverside and is looking for a family to build a house with on the land.

“We are seeking a qualified applicant who is in need of safe decent and affordable housing. Our first priority is to work with an applicant who earns under 60% of area median income (i.e. household of four earning less than $40,000)," said Mark Patton, Executive Director of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity in a statement released by the organization.

In order to qualify, the applicant must meet all the following criteria:

-- At or below the acceptable income level for a household of their size.

-- Acceptable credit scores.

-- Acceptable household debt-to-income ratio.

-- Demonstrated need for housing.

-- Willingness to partner (each adult must donate 250 hours of sweat equity during the build and agree to take home ownership classes).

-- Must be a US legal permanent resident or citizen, must have lived in the area for at least one year, and must have been at the same job for at least one year; applicant should not be undergoing any legal proceedings that affect the household status.

-- No serious criminal record and/or name does not appear on the Nation’s sexual abuse registry.
