East splits with West in Softball

Tonight during the East/West softball game the family of the late Shelly Brown--a former teach at West who died of cancer presents UNI recruit Jaclyn Spencer of West with a $1-thousand dollar scholarship.

East won the first game of the double header 12-2.

But in the second game Spencer is on her game ----Spencer struck out five East high batters in a row during one stretch and she takes a no-hitter into the sixth inning..

East pitcher Kenedi Adams was solid---but West got to her in the fourth.. a bunt and a throwing error allows Lauren Conrey to score-- West takes a 2-1 lead.

West adds a run in the fifth when Lauren Conrey drives in Jaclyn Spencer with a single to centerfield....

West high hangs on to beat East in the night cap.. 3-1.

    Just hours after landing in Taipei the Iowa baseball team got right down to business, posting a 10-5 win over the Czech National Team in an exhibition contest Thursday afternoon. The Hawkeyes, representing team USA at the World University Games, got a pair of 3-run home runs out of Robert Neustrom to clinch the victory.

    Missouri Valley Tournament extends Scottrade Center agreement

    The Missouri Valley Conference exercised an option to keep the men's basketball tournament in Saint Louis through at least 2020. The previous agreement ended in 2018 with a two year to remain at the Scottrade Center. The tournament, known as Arch Madness, will conduct it's 30th straight tournament in Saint Louis in 2020.
