Gracie, the comfort dog, is back home in the Quad Cities and resting after her latest mission.

She went to Orlando along with 11 other comfort dogs to offer their special services to those in need following the shooting at the pulse nightclub that took 49 lives.

These golden retrievers are part of Lutheran Church Charities.

They are deployed to places across the country when a tragedy happens, including Sandy Hook.

Gracie is from Davenport, Iowa and works at Trinity Lutheran Church and School.

Her handlers say these dogs offered a friendly face and something else people need in times of tragedy.

"She provides and all the comfort dogs provide comfort for all those who need it. She's non judgmental and she doesn't take any notes of anything so people can just love on her and kind of get some peace," said Scott Sievert, Gracie's handler.

Gracie has several handlers, the Sievert's were the ones who were able to go with her to Orlando for this mission.
